I had a nice surprise. Somehow, some old recipes made it into the RV and this was one of them. Since it was a very yucky looking card, it must have been a family favorite at one time or another. So,in case you get a hankerin' for something easy and flavorful, here 'tis! Sloppy Joes 1 lb. hamburger 1 small minced onion 1/2 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. pepper 2 Tbsp. flour 1/2 tsp. worcestershire sauce 3/4 cup catsup 1 !/2 cups water Hamburger Buns Cook meat until meat loses its red color and drain fat. Add onions and cook till onions are soft. Blend in flour. Add H2O, wor. sauce, and catsup. Stir and Simmer 15-20 min. Serve over buns! So, there it is for your use if you wish! Love, Mom

...so since neither of us can remember whose turn it is to deal when we play Gin Rummy ( which is nearly every night) we decided we should use a pencil or something as a pointer. But then how would we remember whether or not we actually moved the pointer? Oh well, why should I care since Anitarae has nearly tripled my cumulative score. Nothing seems more hopeless, except the fact that no one will read this anyway.

I don't know how to get the photo description to match the correct photo, so you do the work, ok? Picture one is Crater Lake. Crater Lake was once a Volcano which erupted and then sank deeply into the earth. The crater then filled with some of the purest and bluest water on earth. It is the 7th deepest lake in the world, the 3rd in our hemisphere and the deepest in the USA. And WE got to enjoy it! It was a thrilling site to see on a warm an sunny day! PTL! Then, as you can see, Chip and Dale won our hearts. (Hey, Leah and Koa... Even Al was feeding them. Guess the Rollins Pond rules have changed, eh?) Picture 3: Yours truly! Being loaded onto the Jet Boat. It was a hoot flying 55mph up the Rogue River 35 miles to Hellgates Canyon. At the halfway point we stopped at a lodge and had a scrumptous dinner! Picture 4? 5? Um, this was the day we rented a peddling kayak and peddled from Silkcoose Lake, up the river and to the Pacific Ocean. Boy, was I pooped! But it was a th...

Hi, everyone... Isn't she adorable? Here is Ella Grace reading the Robinson 5 Blog! I wrote to Paula Durgala today and decided I would cut and past a bit of my letter to her as an update to youse-guys. Double the good, half the work! So! This Oregan project has been a joy for the most part. We are working at a very delightful Christian school and I am assisting a master teacher. 2nd grade. We are working with one other couple and that is a test because she is a Joan Hawkens in the chatty cathy arena but I have asked God for strength and he has blessed me. He gave me the idea to knit on a project I began long ago while she gabbed and that has helped significantly. I am not filled with love 'feelings, but I think I am being obedient and kind. I think God is pleased with my desire to respect her. I really do not like projects with only 2 couples because if you don't click ... well... there is no escape and three weeks can be a long time. One more week to go! But ...

It seems like every time I go somewhere there's a stage, I hear someone proclaim vitriolically that "RELIGION IS THE #1 CAUSE OF WAR!!!!" Have you heard this? It's usually said with a lot of authority and righteous indignation. I guess, you know, they're hearkening back to the Old Testament and then skipping a couple millenia and referencing the Crusades, and then making a connection between today's American Christian church, its support of Bush, and Bush's war in Iraq. I think their argument is narrow-minded. I think it could be argued that the church throughout history has been an institution for peacekeeping and forgiveness. That's the context that makes this article most interesting. Note that the "churches have been appeased . . . Not so though the Malaysian Indian Congress" which is further convoluted by the fact that their party is comprised of Hindus.

August 20, 2007 It’s a dark and rainy day here at Cape Lookout State Park. Here we are at one of the scenic wonders on the Oregon Coast and being the creatures of comfort that we are, stuck inside. Perhaps tomorrow we can hike the shore where reportedly we may even see whales. Right now, though, I’m watching birds out my window as I write. There are three beautiful bright blue birds playing in the tree. After checking a bird book, we learned they are Stellar Jays. Apparently, they’re the western version of our blue jays. They are smaller and a deeper, more brilliant blue, but otherwise look similar; especially their heads with that little tuft on top. Other than the rain, I like being in Oregon. I don’t miss the hot, muggy weather back east and I enjoy seeing the ocean and mountains. It seems like all of Washington and Oregon are forest and mountains. We’ve been by some logging yards and it’s astounding to see the enormous piles of long, straight logs ready for milling. Loo...

School starts Monday. As usual, I have mixed feelings. I'll miss the summer, but I'm excited for a new year. Koa got a part time job as an academic advisor at Carroll Community College (less than a mile from home). She'll be a guidance counselor of sorts for community college students. She'll work 10-12 hours a week and it's from 4-7, so I'll be home. And they're very flexible with family obligations, so it's really perfect. (Leah, congratulations on your job, by the way.) Alex misses preschool, but he's not ready to go back - not at all. Ella is growing and loving life.

Nancy Cove Whitney called and said that Alan did a steller and sensitive job presenting our tributes at the memorial service. She said, her "cry-o-meter" went over the top as she listened... and her "laugh-o-meter" did for Adam's. So, thank you, thank you sons, for making a big and important difference! We should have gone. I am sorry we didn't! This has been a very hard and lonely day for me. Blessings on each of you! Mom

Did you know that: It is still quite light out at 10:10 PM here on the coast of WA? We are located in a gorgeous retirement communtiy where everyone landscapes their little homes to the "t?" We are offered our main noon meal in a lovely dining room and the food is very, very good? We see Tom and Jeri almost every day and really enjoy reconnecting with them and their family? Tom's hand is really healed nicely and is the source of many jokes and much laughter as to the form and shapes of it. He says, his right hand is the one God made and his left is the one he made... With his right he waves hello and goodbye and with his left he waves hi and bye. Etc, etc... ; ) Positive mental attitude... That's Tom! Jerilyn makes wonderful "Precious Memories" books! Danny and Matt both have lovely homes? (Haven't been to Jason's or Andrew's yet...) All four boys have delightful wives? The weather has been beautiful here? Usually in the 70s and 80s. We ...

Well, your dad and I made it safely over the Rocky Mountains and that’s not a little thing! We have experienced the grandeur of our country and the beauty and majesty really blew us away! We drove through the Grand Tetons and did a few days in Yellowstone. Since Colorado Springs, we have driven 1,800 miles. We were tired by the time we got here. It was hard driving for Dad and I am a stress magnet, so we worked it together… We are so thankful for our good truck and for God’s protection. Friday, Uncle Tom and Aunt Jeri met us with open arms and a wonderful steak dinner. Then, today after church, we went to Dan and Delaine’s home for dinner. Matt and Jen were there with their two kids. Also, Jason and Kirston. They are a big, fun beautiful family and it was delightful to see them all laughing and interacting together! We missed Andrew and were glad we had connected to them in Dallas! Oh how I wish I could fly you all out for a weekend reunion while we are here! You would lo...

Dad, We're redoing our downstairs bathroom and living room. Yesterday Alex, Ella and I tore down wall paper and today I began prepping the walls for painting. The bathroom walls were in pretty bad shape, and the corners needed re-taping . I still have to sand and put another layer of joint compound on, but it's going pretty well so far. Mainly that's because I remember what you told me a while back - to put down one side at a time. That really helps . . . so thanks for the advice. I'll post some pictures when it's all done.

Dad drove so well through all the twists and turns of the mountain terraine of The Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Parks. PtL! What adventure! We have a great truck with a wonderful transmission that handles the challenges mightily! We are now in Montana in a Walmart parking lot. There are about 25 RVs of all shapes and sizes overnighting. It's the most ever! It is gorgeous, with the parking lot surrounded by the Rocky Mts. I'm on cell phone line so must hurry!!! (before I am bumped!) Much love, Mom

May 26, 2007 It’s Saturday and we finished our project assignment a week ago last Thursday. Since our next assignment doesn’t begin until June 4 right here at Glen Eyrie, we have two weeks for fun. However, so far we have spent most of our time with medical appointments of one sort or another. Anitarae’s new glasses were not working out so she had to have another exam. It turns out the exam she had in Mississippi resulted in a wrong prescription so she has to have new lenses made. Then she had to have blood work done at the hospital to determine the cause of her digestive tract problems. I finally got in to see an ENT doctor about my sinus problem, which according to him is not a sinus problem. Two dentists told me it was and now he was sending me back to a dentist. The third dentist sent me to an endodontist for a root canal to be followed by a crown back in his office. Perhaps it was the estimated cost of $2500 that raised my blood pressure, but at any rate they wouldn’t do ...

Should you healthy eaters want a new Oriental Recipe, this was good. Bon Apatite! Marinated Tofu – 2 Tbsp. Oil 1 lb. Firm Tofu, cubed 2 cloves of Garlic, chopped pepper 1 tsp. Dill Weed Pinch of Cayenne Pepper 1 tsp. Dark Sesame Oil (Or more, to taste.) 2 tsp. Kikuman Soy Sauce (Or more, to taste.) 1. Fry Tofu in hot oil. Stir frequently. 2. Top with Sliced Green Onion Drizzle Soy Sauce over Green Onion

When I was seven or eight or nine or ten or eleven Grandpa Tyner gave us a video tape of some cowboy movies. One of those movies was Red River , starring John Wayne. I watched and enjoyed the entire movie with delight . . . up until the exciting conclusion where the John Wayne character was going to duel his own son over a dispute with a heard of cattle. But then the tape ended and I was deeply crushed to not know how the movie ended. It was one of those things that stayed with me for a long time. For years (literally) I wished that I could just see the ending on TV sometime, but that opportunity never came, and the sense of loss eventually faded. Then on Saturday, as Alex and I sat eating our breakfast and watching a cooking show on PBS, they announced that they would be showing Red River that night. Wow! You would have had to be here to see how excited I was. I ran upstairs to tell Koa; I even called Adam. This was going to bring closure to an unfinished part of my life. Really, it ...

May 14, 2007 Anitarae says she has rarely seen such big smiles on me as she did this past weekend. Well, I’m 64 years old and I’ve known about skiing in places like Breckenridge, Vail and Aspen since I was 16, but ever seeing these mountains has only been a wish. Ever skiing them would only fit in the category of dreams. Friday and Saturday the wish came true the dreams became a plan with hope. Since arriving in Colorado this May, I’ve been hoping to take a ride into the mountains to see the major ski areas I’ve thought about over the past many, many years. The weather promised to be beautiful so we rented a Camry, because we wanted comfort and economy, and headed out Rt. 24 on an adventure. I knew the scenery would be nice, but it surpassed my expectations. Seeing the snow covered mountains in the distance was beautiful and then driving through those areas that were covered with snow was a delight. Up and down the mountains we drove enjoying the majestic vistas in the bright su...

Today we had a nearly perfect holiday! We decided to take a vacation adventure! We rented a little Camry, and took a rode trip. We prayed before we left and dedicated the day to the Lord and asked for His guidance, blessing, leadership, and asked that we might be a blessing. Then we meandered thru the Rocky Mountains and have visited Breckenridge, Vale and tomorrow we will visit Aspen. All of these are Ski Resorts that Dad has always just dreamed of seeing! We had a wonderful day siteseeing, shopping, dining and now we have a little suite at the Comfort Inn. We were enabled to get this room because of a man we "coincidentally" (a God thing...) met and he advised us where to go and made the reservations for us and got us a good deal! PTL! Your dad has been grinning like the cheshire cat all day! He has been borderline giddy! THAT in itself has been one of the high points of the day for me... We have had gorgeous weather and so much fun and beauty today. It's ha...

I got an email last week from Adam and this was in it. Eating lunch with Adam C, Chris Lee and Matt Blaney, all stand up guys. Working fast and hard at my desk is pretty fun, but when I get lazy I simply do not want to move and click the mouse Riding home after work, uphill, drudge, just want to be home There you go! Oh and also one guy in the office has been bringing in RockStar energy drinks for everyone for the last couple days and everyone is wired and spazzy. It's funny. A diversion. (Anybody else want to post a snap shot?) Okay, I will. Up at 7. Devotions with SOWERS at 7:30 (A neat young woman shared her story with us old guys.) 8 am ish go to work in the Marketing Division of Navigator's Glen Eyrie. Dear Family, This journal entry is about Colorado and I am frustrated because I can't describe it in a way that does it justice. This is a beautiful place and we are really enjoying life here. We miss you all and I keep wishing you could experience this kind of life. I know it's because of God's blessing and I hope you will draw close enough to Him to benefit, also. I love you. Friday, May 04, 2007 Our first week at Glen Eyrie is nearing an end. It has gone quickly as all good times do. We are very happy here for many reasons. Actually, we feel blessed to be here in this beautiful place. Colorado, especially this area of Colorado Springs, offers an eye feast in almost every direction. Glen Eyrie is adjacent to Garden of the Gods and the rock formations are awesome. I was blown away by the beauty of the snow covered mountains and blue skies when we arrived and I’m still stunned by it every day. I keep saying stuff like, “I can’t believe how beautiful this place is....

Did you know: That water boils at 198 degrees up here? Thus, food takes longer to cook cuz the water isn't hot enuf. Breads rise very quickly, but they aren't truly 'proofed' so must rise a 3rd time... Cakes rise so fast in the oven, (because of lack of air pressure above them,)that they will pour over the top of the tin before they can bake enuf to support themselves! Liquid evaporates so fast that two extra tablespoons must be added per cup to produce a product that is not dried out. Hmmmmmmmm... My culinary reputation is at stake!

I used a chainsaw for the first time yesterday! We came down to the Denny's to help them prepare for Jessica's wedding (in two weeks). We got here early yesterday morning, but Bob was called away to close a real estate deal. Such is the life of a Realtor. (Any deal is a good deal in this slow market.) Anyhow, he told me how to adjust the chain and . . . really there's not much to it. Anyhow, I had a lot of fun cutting up old fence posts, bushes and even some firewood that we can use for camping this summer.

DEAR FAMILY, THIS IS A PORTION OF MY JOURNAL SINCE LEAVING FLORIDA. IT IS LENGTHY, SO FEEL FREE TO READ OR NOT At the end of March we headed west back across Florida to Ramblers Rest and I did some more crown molding for Donna and Charlie. We had a good time with them for a few days then started out on the next phase of our adventure which is to eventually get to Colorado Springs to work at Navigators. We planned several stops on the way since we had all of April to get to CO. First I had to collect on my Christmas present promised which was tickets to Cirque du Soleil in Orlando. So we drove to an RV park nearby and headed for Downtown Disney. We had just been there in January with Emma so we knew our way around. It was fun being back in such a colorful, happy place. We enjoyed walking around exploring and then headed for the theater. This was no ordinary circus. It was fast paced, colorful, creative and very unusual. It was a most entertaining evening. We both walked out wi...

I can hardly believe we are in Dallas and sleeping only a mile from where Kennedy was shot. We arrived at the Dallas West RV Park about 1:00 today and headed downtown to visit the Kennedy Memorial. We had a comprehensive tour of the area where JFK was assassinated. The sixth floor of the book storage building where Oswald did the dastardly deed is now a museum. We saw the x in the middle of Elm St where JFK was when he was hit. It was a somber experience to revisit that day in history. Much of the feeling we both had in '63 came back to us. We spent the evening with Andrew and Margaret Tyner and their little girl,Riley. They have lived in Dallas for the last two years. They both have good jobs and seem happy, but miss Washington and family. Andrew says it's a boring area. Too flat and nothing pretty to look at. We had a nice visit with them over a great Mexican dinner at a restaurant. Dallas is a big, busy city and spreads out over a large area. Driving back to our ...

Well, here we are in Louisiana headed towards Texas to establish residency. The Great Adventure takes on new meaning as we go into unchartered, unexplored territory. We feel renewed excitement! We just crossed the mighty Mississippi a while back! That's significant, eh? Also, I just read, Maria, by Eugenia Price, a historical novel about the settling of Florida. The main character, Maria Evans was quite a lady. It was fun to read after living last and this winter in Florida. Louisana is very swampy. We crossed a bridge that was over ten miles long. (over swamp.) I love my friends in MS and though glad to re enter the adventure, parting is always bittersweeet. Daddy drives on. Isn't it amazing that I can talk on the phone and email while trucin' along? I'm really into technology! We love you all!

Well folks, it's good to be back. Thanks Adam for inviting me to the blog....again. I know you've done it several times. We're spending this weekend at the Denny's house. We came down to help them get their yard work done and their house in tip-top shape for Jessica's wedding. The ceremony will be down the road, but they will have Ian's parents over a few times. The wedding is in four weeks, so it's getting close. After church we picked up Koa's grandma for lunch and we also borrowed her rotary tiller. This year we're going to plant a garden in our back yard. It's tough to find a sunny place that's not too much in the way, but I think we'll have some success behind the shed. We're planting tomatoes (I'm so excited), squash, peppers, peas and cucumbers. Alex and Ella have been excited to water the seeds and watch them grow....so far just inside. I think we'll plant everything next weekend. That's what's new ...

Hi Everyone, Dad is finishing painting the back of Tooley's house after siding it, and working on the interior, too. This afternoon he will build their steps off the back, small deck. Last team built the fron deck. It is of pressure treated wood and I don't care for that on the front of the house... but... it is not my house. And it is a real nice deck! Tooley's are the directors of Nazarene Disaster Relief here in Gautier. They have been living in a small trailer for over a year... or just under... I don't remember. We love them and want them to have a nice home, which they now do. It is adjacent to the church. Due to complications, the disaster relief new housing building is not open yet. It soon will be and will lighten the load on the church and they will be able to use their kitchen and gym.... This is a very active church and so they have felt the loss.[of gym and kitchen) However, the church has grown from 100+ to 450+ since the hurricaine! PtL! That...

So, here is a pic of Priscilla's new babay girl, Willow Lunah. She was born April 6- yes- another April birthday!! She's 9lbs. 1oz. and beautiful, she looks just like her mama. They are both healthy and incrdibly happy :0) I've also got some pics up of my first attempt at a fondant cake. That's the fondant, in a big ball before I rolled it out. It was very strange, but fun. I liked it, but Alan requested "not a fondant cake" for his birthday. Today he's getting a cake version of an andees candy. a two layer chocolate cake with minty frosting.... yum. More importantly to him, I'm attempting to make him a steak for dinner.... Happy Birthday Alan! This years best present is going to be that he is here to celebrate it. He and the kids are super bummed about missing out on the trip to Maryland, so we will have to plan a rematch as soon as we possibly can.... In the meantime we hope everyone is doing well, and we hope you have a wonderfull Happy Annivers...
