Journal: January 9; A great first day of work

January 9, 2006

The first day of work was very enjoyable. I felt fortunate to be able to do carpentry and to work with Roger. I didn’t have to work on buses, do roofing or cut brush; I got to build new gates for the animals’ pens. Part of the experience for kids who attend this camp is to interact with the animals. There are emus, pigs, a donkey, a goat and some chickens. This is such a neat camp. There are 86 acres and just about everything you would expect and much more. There are two go-cart tracks. There’s a track for younger kids and one for the advanced. I hope we get to try it out. I can just imagine SOWER go-cart races.

Working with Roger was a blessing. Not only does he have a nice, easy going, pleasant personality, but he has an impact screw gun. Now I want one. This is a cordless screw gun that looks like any ordinary gun/drill, but it exceeds all others in power. It’s kind of like the impact air wrenches the use in auto mechanics to loosen and tighten lug nuts, etc. Actually, I think it’s the very gun that Anitarae gave me a coupon for as a Christmas present. She had asked Marc, the Habitat supervisor/instructor, for a recommendation of a tool and that was his suggestion. So, e-bay here I come.

After spending a beautiful 76 degree sunny day doing exactly what I like to do, we enjoyed playing games with the gang. It doesn’t get much better than this. Thank you, Lord!

gently, jokingly, no offense meant from your most northern golf addicted son

do you have to mention the temperature every post?

I gotta admit, though, it's a nice day for golf here.

I liked the line, "Not only does he have a nice, easy going, pleasant personality, but he has an impact screw gun." It has great timing.

I'm enjoying your records. Isaac Air Freight isn't as funny as I remembered.
