I feel like I’ve been on vacation and now it’s time to go back to work. However, it’s not the same old feeling since I am really looking forward to going to work. We have had a great time here at Floyd’s place. I admire him in many ways. He lives alone, but has a very full life. He is obviously much loved as evidenced by the many phone calls which he answers with, "Hey, Hey….!" And goes immediately into laughter and conversation. I also wish I had a tenth of his mechanical knowledge and common sense of how things work. He is the kind of guy you could ask about most anything and he would give you an answer you could take to the bank.
Yesterday, Floyd took us to the Brevard Zoo. It is, without a doubt, the most interesting zoo I’ve visited. I guess the Florida climate makes it possible to have animals we never see in a northern zoo. The African and South American sections probably impressed me the most. Seeing and feeding giraffes from the hand, walking through the aviary and seeing and holding exotic birds kept eliciting comments of surprise and joy from all of us. The rhinos, monkeys, flamingos, alligators and crocodiles all in their natural habitats were a most unusual sight. I could spend many more days there just sitting in one spot watching the animals.
Of course we finished off the day with a good meal at "Grandpa’s Diner," the next best place to eat, and a very competitive game of Mexican Trains. Floyd fixed us a great breakfast this morning and we’ll soon be on our way to Vero Beach… that is as soon as Anitarae finishes the DVD movie she has tried to see in bits and pieces. But, who’s keeping track of time.
