Jan 12th, Tard at naght.....
January 12, 2006
Now I’m the one who’s tard at naght. Usually it’s Anitarae. Tonight it’s both of us. Today I cut and moved brush all morning and set fence posts all afternoon. Workin’ on a ranch is hard work. I know I’m not supposed to talk about the temperature, but you could have wrung out my shirt at lunch time. We really did clean up the animal pens area. It looks raght nahce. We took down most of the fence and we’re replacing it with all new. I really enjoy the crew of guys I’m working with. Everybody has such a good attitude even though the work is way too hard for old guys like us. I’m the youngest I think.
There are two other crews of guys. One is working on roofs and the other is doing bus maintenance. The women are doing mostly cleaning. Everyone works hard and nobody complains. In fact, there's lots of laughter!
Anitarae was a riot this morning. You see, she’s been having trouble getting to devotions on time because they’re at7:30 AM. Yesterday, she was the last one to arrive and they all conspired to clap when she walked in which really embarrassed her. Well, this morning she put on a bathrobe over her clothes, added a plastic shower cap, took a blanket and went over to the devotions room early. She lay on the couch all covered up so no one could tell who it was. She had signs that read, "shhh," and "Please wake me at 7:25. Must be on time." Some who entered thought it was just pillows until she stirred a little. Some caught on right away and guessed it was her and some were not sure until one bright woman said, "Well duh!.. who else could it be?" When called at 7:29, Anitarae stood up revealing herself in the robe and cap. There were howls of laughter. It was really funny and people enjoyed the joke immensely. Anitarae has endeared herself to this group in a big way. They love her fun spirit.
Tonight we had a hot dog roast over a campfire. We all sat around in the middle of our rv lot eating and telling stories. It was a real SOWER community event. Tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday are days off and I think most of us are physically ready for that. This is a great life!

mom,
the string teacher asked me you if were enjoying retirement.
i said, "it was what she hoped it would be."
mrs. not-hoehn asked how you liked retirement.
i said, "They're now group leaders, it is going well"
i get lots of questions like this. do you have a canned answer i should give, or should i keep syaing what i say so i know what it is that i want to say?
tell people we had a dream.
usually the reality doesn't meet the expectations of the dream.
but this is exceeding more than we could have thought or asked for!
and that's why we call it THE GREAT ADVENTURE!
PTL!
the group thought it was hysterical, too.
they want to make a skit for the SOWER reunion in february about the lateness/sleeping on the couch caper.
anyone want to write it for us?
i guess i spell badly...
sounds like you have as much fun as you work hard.... does that makes sense?
it seems like you are both really able to shine :0)!!!
